December 25th: You Got Wrockroll’d! 2

December 25, 2009

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

Welcome to the FINAL DAY of the Wizard Rock Advent Calendar! I hope you all had fun, because Archie and I certainly had a blast.  For a spur of the moment decision two days before the start of December, we like to think it turned out pretty well.  My sincere thanks to all of the wizard rock bands that stepped in to help by contributing their own unreleased songs to this crazy little project. Thanks also to all the blogs that linked to us, and the people mentioned us on twitter.  But most of all, thank you, each and everyone of you that came and downloaded the songs, even if you did it just once.  Sure, you probably aren’t reading this right now, but, whatever.

Anyway, you may be wondering what today’s song is.  The thing is… there isn’t one.

There’s fourteen.  I hope that’s okay with you.  Yes, the 25th (sorta) and final Wizard Rock Advent Calendar present is the official release of our new album of wremixes and mashups of wizard rock songs, audiobooks, and podcasts, You Got Wrockroll’d! 2!!!  CHECK IT OUT!!!

Again, thank you all so much.  You truly made this a most wonderful advent for us.  Merry Christmas, and if that doesn’t float your theological boat, have a great day!  I recommend calling up your friends who celebrate Christmas with their families and asking if they want to go with you on a trip to Las Vegas, or something, and feign surprise when they mention that it’s Christmas.  Never gets old.

Lastly, there will be more added to this post later, maybe, including an extended list of thanks, and a retrospectively look at the songs featured here.

HARRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL, AND TO ALL A GOOD NIGHT!

December 18th: We’re Going to be Friends (Hogwarts Edition!)

December 20, 2009

What’s the opposite of a miracle?  Well, whatever it is, I’m having a Christmas one of them, as I am snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.  However, once again, a fellow wrocker is generously donating an awesome song for you to download for free!  Tracy from the Pygmy Puff Invasion sent me today’s great song, “We’re Going to be Friends (Hogwarts Edition!)”.  If you like easy mellow melodies (mellowdies? Nah, that looks like “mellow DIES! MWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!”), and a very strong and capable singing voice, with a timber, no, timbre, unique to wizard rock, then you better download the song below.  If not, then download it anyway, and go see a flobberwormin’ shrink.  I mean really.  Lastly, yes, this is many days late, but come fiendfyre or auguamenti, I will get 25 free wizard rock songs out to you people, at some point.  If you’d like to help, please contact us at pantslesswrock@gmail.com.  Thanks!

December 17th: Lavender Brown

WIZARD ROCK ADVENT CALENDAR MAY TAKE A HIATUS

December 17, 2009

Hey, guys. I’m sorry to report that the Wizard Rock Advent Calendar may take a small hiatus. You see, my feet started randomly hurting so much that I am unable to walk or even stand – and thus, unable to properly record songs. I’m really sorry about this. However, if you are a wizard rock band, a donation of a previously unreleased song would be SO greatly appreciated. You can email it to me at pantslesswrock@gmail.com . Thank you for your understanding.

December 15th: Hanukkah

December 15, 2009

Happy FIFTH NIGHT of Hanukkah!  Here is a song we planned to release on the first night of Hanukkah!  Hooray!  We’re pretty proud about this song – I mean, it’s a parody of a Jonathan Coulton song about a Jewish holiday with references to Harry Potter and questionable vocal skills.  What’s not to like?  The writing process was a real collaborative effort between Archie and myself – usually we work on most of a song by ourselves, bring it to the other, and tweak it to our mutual liking together.  But this one was entirely writing together, since Archie is Jewish, and thus knows a lot more about this stuff than I do.  I mean, it’s a religious tradition to EAT JELLY DONUTS.  This is clearly the greatest holiday ever.  Besides Talk Like A Pirate Day, of course.  Now if only TLAPD landed sometime in Hanukkah…  I think the world would implode with the awesomeness.  So, anyway, link to download the song below, and a video for once!

December 14th: My Potions

December 14, 2009

I’ve long thought that the Billy-Hammer-Penny dynamic is very akin to the Sevvy-Potter-Lily dynamic.  There might be a post and a video, someday, maybe.  I mean, if you accept the theory that there are alternate dimensions but they exist before and after this universe starts/ends, meaning all possible occurrences happen eventually, at some time in the past or the future there will  be a world where everything is exactly the same except I did all this on time and with a full blog posting and video everytime.  But this is not that universe.  Sorry.  Also, Hanukkah themed song tomorrow!

December 13th: Twi-Rock Roundup

December 14, 2009

To celebrate the fact that it’s the thirteenth or something, here’s all of our twi-rock music we’ve made.  All of it has been released before, but a couple of the songs will probably be new to most of you.  Also, this is hella late, sorry about that.  My bad.  To make it up to you, have THREE songs.  Don’t be mad plx?  I’ma go bed now.
